Tripod of Apollo or altar

Excavated in 1775 by Gavin Hamilton in Ostia. Bought in 1798.

Acanthus leaves create three lyres. A snake and laurel tree are symbols of Apollo. Dolphins and griffins point to Apollo of Delphi.
