Statue of an athlete
He is in the act of anointing himself. The right hand which he holds above his shoulder held the balsamarium, now missing, while with the left which is held close to his body he is evidently engaged in rubbing the oil over his person. The figure rests on the left leg, close to which is a palm-tree, hanging from which is the vial of oil. This statue is apparently the work of a school anterior to that of Lysippus.
