    General description

The floor of the back room has not been preserved. Most of the floor of the front room has been preserved, albeit with several gaps. It has some patches of white tesserae, restored with a mix of black and white tesserae. The north-west part of the mosaic is set against a thin, white marble band on the axis of the central column, separating statio 8 and statio 9. The south-west part of the mosaic has superseded the thin black band separating statio 7 and statio 8.

    Text

    No text has been preserved.

    Depictions

Vaglieri only remarks that the mosaic has been much restored in antiquity, and noted traces of two leaves. One of these can be seen in the centre of the west end (a "snail shell"). In the north-west part are many thin, alternating black and white lines, running east-west. In the south-west part more thin white lines can be seen, running east-west, to the north of some large object.

    Masonry

The back room has a rear wall of opus latericium. The south wall and north wall are of opus vittatum simplex (two and three layers preserved). According to Vaglieri's plan there was a door in the back room leading to statio 7. Also on his plan a wall or bench is drawn set against the back wall. The model has no door in the south wall and a bench set against the north and east wall of the back room.

    Interpretation

The long lines might be a reflection of the river delta in statio 27. The floor is reminiscent of that of statio 20, which we might call the "statio of the graffiti". Like that floor, this floor must largely be a restoration from a period when the square had lost its commercial function.
