    General description

The floor of the back room is lost. In the front room large stretches of the north and central part have been preserved. The central part consists of white tesserae, and is separated from statio 36 by a thin band of white marble, slightly to the east of the axis of the central column. The northern patch has a depiction. In the east half is a stretch consisting of black and white tesserae in a checkerboard pattern. In the north-east corner is a black patch with some white tesserae.

    Text

    No text has been preserved.

    Depictions

The left half of a dolphin has been preserved. The right half was in the passage to the back room. The animal is depicted vertically, swimming from the south to the north. The curve of the body and tail indicate that the animal is to be looked at from the east (the only dolphin on the square with a tail curved downward is in statio 46, but the curve of the body does not match). Below the dolphin is a tiny lighthouse, to be looked at from the west.

    Becatti
Lighthouse. Un piccolo faro a quattro piani, senza dettagli interni, disposto con l'asse maggiore Est-Ovest.
Dolphin. Un delfino con coda falcata, mancante del muso, in posizione verticale.

    Masonry

At either end of the rear wall of the back room is a pier of opus vittatum simplex. They are of equal size. The western one is not entering the room and its east side is apparently showing the core of the wall (in this part of the north side of the square the distances between the vittatum piers and brick columns seem to vary; this should be checked in situ). In between is a section of opus latericium, set back somewhat to create an alcove. The east wall is of opus latericium, the west wall is of opus vittatum mixtum A (three layers preserved).

    Interpretation

The depiction of the dolphin and lighthouse is still heraldic, but here combining views from the west and the east, instead of a single view from the south. The unique orientation of the depictions suggests a link with the neighbouring stationes 34 and 36. Because the depiction is heraldic and because the dolphin is swimming into the back room through the passage, the front room and back room seem to have been a functional entity.
