Mosaic
General descriptionThe floor of the back room is lost. However, NADIS inv. nr. 645 shows a north-south running black band in the south-west part, turning west-east a little to the south of the corner of the latericium part of the west wall. White tesserae have been preserved in the front room and in the passage from the back room to the front room. The mosaic of the front room is separated from stationes 35 and 37 by a thin band of white marble, both slightly to the east of the axis of the central column. In the north-west corner of the front room are the remains of a black band, running north-south, four tesserae wide.

Masonry
At either end of the rear wall of the back room is a pier of opus vittatum simplex. The western one is narrower than usual. In between is a section of opus latericium, set back somewhat to create an alcove. The east wall is of opus vittatum mixtum A (five layers preserved). A short latericium wall was set against the western pier. It is the corner of a tiny room in the back part of statio 37.
The western half of the passage between the front room and back room is blocked by a (modern) wall of opus vittatum mixtum A (five layers preserved, one layer consisting of small, square tufa stones). Gismondi's plan shows an almost complete blocking, with a tiny gap at the east end. The model has another bit of wall set against the east central column, leaving a door.
Interpretation
Statio 36 may have formed an entity with statio 35 (see there), and (later) also with statio 37, in view of the opening that was left in the back room.
