    General description

The floor of the back room has not been preserved. Most of the floor of the front room has been preserved, with the exception of the east end. It is bordered on the north side by a wide, black band. Inside this band is a white patch with some black speckles. On its south side are a few black "steps". The south end of the room has a wide band of white marble, of which the west and east part are lost. It is on the area of statio 57. Directly to the east of the passage to the back room is a patch of alternating black and white stones. In the interior of the room is a black frame, of which all sides have been preserved (13 tesserae wide, 3.70 x 2.30). Inside the frame is a depiction that should be looked at from the west.

    Text

    No text has been preserved.

    Depictions

In the centre of the frame a grain measure is depicted, with three grain ears sticking out of it (meas. of grain measure 0.30 x 0.31, h. including the ears 0.62).

    Becatti
Grain measure. Un moggio cilindrico con fasciature parallele, su tre piedi, senza anse, dal quale escono tre spighe di grano, una al centro verticale e due oblique laterali. Il moggio è volto verso Ovest.

    Masonry

The back wall of the back room for the most part shows the core of the wall. The lower part is of opus reticulatum looking modern. There is no north or south wall (at the south end a low, presumably modern wall only bridges the difference in height with statio 57). The model has a bench against the back wall, continuing in statio 55, the old plans do not. No plinths have been preserved around the central columns.

    Interpretation

The orientation of the grain measure suggests that this statio was connected with another statio, where the main entrance was. This would be statio 55 if the bench on the model, against the back wall of 55-56, was a reality.
