TOMB 51bis

Tomb 51bis is located in front of tomb 51 but is from a older time. The grave lies lower than
tomb 51 and shows how fast silting up of the ground took place.
Tomb 51bis is a semicircular tomb a cassone and is positioned parallel to the Via Severiana.
On the side facing this street we can see a marble slab of 27 x 41 cm
with the following inscription:

                                            . CINERIBVS .
                                      CLAVDIAE . SP . FIL .
                                            . PLVSIADIS .
                                    ANTONIA . M . F . ACTE
                                ET . M . ANTONIVS . HYLLVS

The translation goes as follows: To the ashes of Claudia Plusias,
daughter of Spurius. Antonia Acte, daughter of Marcus, and

Tomb 51bis dates from the time of Hadrian.
