TOMB 87 (continuation) Tek

The burial chamber was nicely decorated and so was the mosaic floor.
On the walls, small pictures were painted, framed in painted cornices.
In the niche,to the right of the central niche in the back wall a male figure
was depicted, dressed in a toga, with a scroll in his hand.
In front of him is a boy, dressed in a short tunica, holding a tray (museum
of Ostia, inv. nr. 10037).
Below the large niche of the back- all was a painting of Pyramus
and Thisbe. Only the part with Thisbe has survived and is stored
in the Ostian museum (inv. nr. 10115).
In the central niche on the left wall was a scene with Ajax and
Cassandra (inv. nr. 10114). Above the same niche the myth of Diana
and Aktaion was represented.

The mosaic floor held a scene of Selene and Endymion
and again geometrical patterns.
The floor is stored in the Ostian depots.
