Two legs of a statue of Lucius Verus (1055, 1055a)
Found in the Tempio tetrastilo (I,XV,2).
H. 0.63, l. of the foot 0.33.
On the sandals are parts of the skin of wild animals.
The legs formed part of a statue of Lucius Verus in the Tempio tetrastilo (I,XV,2), where Asclepius was the main deity (inv. nr. 114). Other fragments of the same statue are an arm and a hand holding a globe (inv. nrs. 1089, 1057, and 1064). In the cella of the temple inscriptions were found recording dedications to Lucius Verus and Marcus Aurelius, from 167 AD and 166-169 AD (EDR107508 and EDR107509). The statue was accompanied by a statue of Verus' wife Lucilla as Hygieia: see inv. nr. 27.
