Portrait of Lucilla, wife of Lucius Verus, as Hygieia (27)
Found in the Tempio Tetrastilo (I,XV,2).
H. including the neck 0.31, h. of the head 0.21.
The portrait formed part of a statue to which also belong two feet and a hand holding a little box (inv. nrs. 1059 and 1078). This seems to have been a cult statue of the Tempio tetrastilo (I,XV,2), with Asclepius as the main deity (inv. nr. 114).
In the cella of the temple inscriptions were found recording dedications to Lucius Verus and Marcus Aurelius, from 167 AD and 166-169 AD (EDR107508 and EDR107509). Fragments of a male statue were also found, so a statue of Lucius Verus presumably accompanied that of Lucilla - Hygieia: see inv. nr. 1055.
