Polychrome mosaic with Venus (36724)

From Ostia.
Date: second half of the fourth century AD.
LIMC: "Two uninscribed fragmented panels of what almost certainly was once a complete cycle of Menses. March is a standing male figure in shepherd's dress, with a pail of milk and pointing at a swallow, a lamb at his feet. Of April remains a leafy niche with the statuette of Venus, an altar with a floral garland and candles, and hem of dancer's costume. In adjacent panels are the Spring Season, birds and fruits".
