Regio II - Insula III - Edificio II,III,1.2.5

This building was probably excavated in the period 1938-1942. It is for the most part filled with earth and shrubs. It was built during the reign of Hadrian, c. 132-139 AD. The function of the interior is not clear at all. Rooms are arranged around a courtyard with a portico. On the east and south side are shops. Note the many slit windows in the north facade (cf. the east and south facade of the nearby Barracks of the Fire Brigade).

For a further discussion see the Building with a Porticoed Courtyard (II,XII).
